Biography

I am a composer for visual media based in Linlithgow, Scotland with a passionate interest in scoring for film.

My background is being a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist in heavy, avant-garde rock bands. (Flux Velociraptor and Tabasco Fiasco are two of my favourites).

Now I focus on composing boutique music for game developers, film makers and advertising clients as well sync licensing for TV. I currently have two production albums published by Absolute Music Library plus an on-going relationship with them as one of their composers.

What I strive for in the music I create is realism, expression, dynamics and emotion. I always push myself to improve as with music there is always something new to learn and nothing is ever perfect. That really excites me.

I also think my years with a guitar around my neck influences how I shape the sound of orchestral instruments. Low strings & brass can sometimes remind me of an overdriven guitar in drop tuning but with much more power and potential for dynamic expression.

Having said that, if you check out the music I composed for SKYLE Games (VGM page) it sounds very different to that.

I have over 2 decades experience writing, performing and producing music and I'm capable of delivering industry standard work that exceeds clients expectations. And a piece is only finished when everyone is blown away and happy.
